Private enquiry agent Cyrus Barker has weathered character assassination, murder attempts, and attacks upon his closest associates, but never has he and his partner Thomas Llewelyn faced such destruction and potential disaster. The sudden collapse of a railway tunnel in the East End kills dozens and shuts down services all over London. Meanwhile, a mysterious beggar woman informs Barker and Llewelyn of an attempt by a powerful aristocrat to take over the criminal underworld. With distractions like a missing heiress and a riot at a women’s shelter, Barker and Llewelyn must figure out how all these disparate crises are linked.
For two decades, Will has been adding to his popular Barker and Llewelyn series, which began with Some Danger Involved, winner of the 2005 Oklahoma Book Award. He won the same prize ten years later for another series entry, Fatal Enquiry. He lives with his family in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
