After the president is killed at his inauguration, House Speaker Gianni Simonelli is called upon to stabilize the administration. A second-generation Italian American from New York, he has long avoided any association with the Mafia. But when it becomes apparent that terrorists have infiltrated the FBI and the Secret Service, Simonelli is forced to turn to his estranged brother, a committed member of the crime family. In collaborating with the Mafia, Simonelli may very well save democracy, but at the cost of becoming a puppet for organized crime. The result is a high stakes, modern retelling of the story of Cain and Abel.
