Full Circle Bookstore is honored to host a signing for esteemed character actor (and Oklahoma native) Tim Blake Nelson. Nelson will greet customers in the café and sign copies of his debut novel, City of Blows. A Q&A session will be open to the public, but a copy of Nelson’s book purchased from Full Circle is required to get in line for the meet-and-greet.
Nelson is perhaps best known for his roles in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018) and O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), but his filmography spans four decades and includes many other celebrated deep cuts, including Lincoln (2012), Minority Report (2002), and Just Mercy (2019). He received acclaim for his role as Wade Tillman/Looking Glass on HBO’s Watchmen miniseries. Two of his future roles will include Dune: Part Two (2023) and Captain America: New World Order (2024).
City of Blows is Nelson’s debut novel, a dramatic story of Hollywood brought to life in a way only a veteran actor could achieve. It’s early 2020, and legendary producer Jacob Rosenthal is looking to make his next film. The project is Jacob’s envisioned magnum opus, and likely his swan song. He selects David Levit to direct, a major opportunity for the classically trained actor/director whose own films, while critically adored, have not resulted in box office success. But the announcement of his hiring doesn’t sit well with a producer from David’s past, Brad Shlansky, who channels the last remaining vestiges of his creativity into a revenge plot that could scupper the film and ruin the lives of its producer and director in the process.
