Stephen P. Friot signs CONTAINING HISTORY

In the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February of last year, U.S.-Russia relations have approached a breaking point. In his a book published by OU Press, Stephen P. Friot asks, how do Russians and Americans think about each other, and why do they see the world so differently? Cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural in its scope, Containing History provides an essential lens through which to understand the world today and the direction it is heading in. We are delighted to host Judge Stephen P. Friot to discuss this important work. He will be joined in conversation by Judge Robert Henry.

Judge Stephen P. Friot is Senior U.S. District Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma and Associate of the University of Oklahoma’s Romanoff Center for Russian Studies. He traveled the Russian Federation while lecturing with faculties of law at numerous universities. He has also contributed to the Comparative Constitutional Review (Moscow).

Judge Robert Henry is a former Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and a former chair of the Committee on International Judicial Relations of the federal judiciary.  In that capacity, he served as a judicial ambassador, supporting the advancement of the rule of law worldwide.
