An Evening with French-Speaking Swiss Author Thomas Sandoz

As part of the French Cultures Festival, Alliance Française d’Oklahoma City welcomes award-winning author Thomas Sandoz, who will draw upon his experience as a French-speaking author in Switzerland and to delve into Francophone culture and the value of literature in today’s global market. He will also speak about his book Croix de bois, croix de fer (Wooden Cross, Iron Cross) and answer audience questions. Discussion in French with English translation.

Join us for an enlightening discussion on culture, language, and resulting influences on literature. Attendees will enjoy refreshments, door prizes, and the opportunity to pose questions to Mr. Sandoz.

As a prolific Swiss author, epistemologist, and Doctor of Psychology, Mr. Sandoz has published several notable novels, essays, and monographs on cultural phenomena. He has also made a name for himself through articles on popular science and cultural critique. Mr. Sandoz is widely recognized and has received several awards including the Swiss Schiller Foundation Prize in 2011.

The central theme of Mr. Sandoz’s novel Croix de bois, croix de fer (Wooden Cross, Iron Cross) about a man with a missionary brother, is charity towards others. Croix de bois, croix de fer has been chosen as a future Cercle de lecture selection.
