A Celebration of Ralph Ellison Day!

A Celebration of "Ralph Ellison Day" including a signing with the executor of the Ralph Ellison literary estate and editor of The Selected Letters of Ralph Ellison John F. Callahan.
OKC Mayor David Holt will open our celebration with a proclamation of Ralph Ellison Day (March 1st is Ralph Ellison's birthday.) Mr. Callahan will then read from Letters and have a Q&A with OCU English Professor Tracy Floreani and an open discussion with the audience.

About the Author: Ralph Ellison is the author of the novel Invisible Man, one of the most important and influential American novels of the twentieth century, as well as numerous essays and short stories. He was born on March 1, 1913, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He died in New York City in 1994.

About the Editor: John F. Callahan is the Odell Professor of Humanities at Lewis & Clark College. He has been the editor or writer of numerous volumes related to African American and twentieth-century literature. As Ralph Ellison’s literary executor, Callahan worked as the primary editor for the posthumously released Ralph Ellison novel Juneteenth.

The Garden Café at Full Circle Bookstore serves a delectable breakfast menu and a delicious selection of soups, salads, sandwiches and sweets for lunch. We also offer a variety of after-hour nibbles, as well as wine and local beers. Join us for breakfast Monday-Friday, from 8:00-10:00am, and lunch Monday- Saturday from 11:30am-2:00pm.

In addition, our Java Joe Coffee Bar can make any espresso or cappuccino drink you may want.
