"There's more truth in fiction than non-fiction." – Walter Mosley

These words proved to be an inspiration for Oklahoma City native Elizabeth Prosser. An avid reader, Ms. Prosser especially enjoys biographies, both fictional and factual. Her desire to share that interest is what motivated her to initiate a new discussion group entitled "English Queens - Fact and Fiction."

The concept of the discussion group is to compare and contrast two books, one fiction – one non-fiction, covering the lives of three English Queens: Katherine Swynford, Isabella of France and Elizabeth of York.

The discussion group will meet at Full Circle Bookstore, 1900 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, Ok. The group is free to the public and all interested are invited to participate. The first gathering will be Thursday, June 28th at 10:30am. The Queen for the Day will be Katherine Swynford. Although not a queen, via her four illegitimate (later legitimized) children with John of Gaunt, she was the ancestor of every English monarch since Edward IV. The books are Katherine by Anya Seaton (fiction) and Mistress of the Monarchy by Alison Weir (fact). It is helpful but not necessary to have read the books in advance.

The second meeting will be Thursday, July 26th at 10:30am. The Queen for the Day will be Isabella of France. The books are The She Wolf by Maurice Druon (fiction) and She Wolves: The Women Who Ruled England Before Elizabeth (Part 4) by Helen Castor (fact).

The final meeting will be Thursday, August 23rd at 10:30am. The Queen for the Day will be Elizabeth of York. The books are The White Princess, by Philippa Gregory (fiction) and Elizabeth of York by Allison Weir (fact).

All books will be available for purchase at Full Circle Bookstore.

Please join us for what promises to be a most interesting discussion. As Carolyn Angus Bohn once said, "Truth beats fiction!"
